over the appalachian and across the monongahela

over the appalachian and across the monongahela,
in two days.
*
i still do see –
the trees from atop the rainsoaked boulders,
the early stars from the cliff,
the spotlights from the stage,
the rain pouring on the windshield,
-all passing in black and white on a giant silverscreen-
*
this unusual connection, this unsuspected serendipity,
that old familiar bond of the kindreded in a strange land,
and this long way travelled-
over the appalachian and across the monongahela.
*
good as the color of the grass,
and the sound of the sea,
and the feel of the northerly breeze-
blowing down from shamali.

  1. Beautiful and haunting! What inspired this poem?

  2. @morgan:

    by s., primarily.

six months after this, we got married, and are living happily ever after now.

every line in this poem, every reference, is to a particular place or event that the two of us can only unfold and decode. each one has a story.

a bit of an esoteric poem.

glad you liked it, and intrigued that you found it haunting…
